19 Deaths Reported within Last 24 Hours-NOCPCO

As of this morning (8), a total of 1914 more persons were confirmed positive to COVID-19 in the past 24 hours. 25 Sri Lankan expatriates and 1889 of those positive cases are locally-identified ones, including the majority 591 from Gampaha District, 434 from Colombo District, 368 from Kulutara District, and 496 others from different Districts, states the National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO).

By this morning (8), a total of 90,637 persons, inclusive of the fish market and Minuwangoda cluster and 30,700 others have been confirmed positive to COVID-19 from all over the country, including the dead. The affected rest of 24,681 after the New Year are still under treatment in hospitals and care centers.

By Wednesday (8) morning, 121,337 persons were confirmed positive to COVID-19 in the country and 101,762 of them after recovery have left hospitals and care centers.

In the past 24 hours, 878 recovered patients have left hospitals and care centers. 19 deaths have been reported in the past 24 hours. Accordingly, the COVID-19 death toll in the country remains at 764 by this morning (8). As of this morning (8), 6,365 persons in 74 tri service-managed QCs are still in quarantine.

By this morning (8) at the time this communique was released, the number of isolated areas remains unchanged other than the isolated areas that have been lifted.
