As of this morning (6), a total of 1939 more persons were confirmed positive to COVID-19 in the past 24 hours. 42 Sri Lankan expatriates and 1897 of those positive cases are locally-identified ones, including the majority 498 from Colombo District, 387 from Gampaha District, 377 from Kalutara District, and 635 others from different Districts, states the National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO).
By this morning (6), a total of 90,637 persons, inclusive of the fish market and Minuwangoda Brandix cluster and 5,975 others have been confirmed positive to COVID-19 from all over the country, including the dead. 98,113 fully-recovered COVID-19 patients have been so far discharged from hospitals and the rest 18,992 affected after the New Year are still under treatment in hospitals and care centers.
By Wednesday (6) morning, 117,528 persons were confirmed positive to COVID-19 in the country and 100,075 of them after recovery have left hospitals and care centers.
In the past 24 hours, 922 recovered patients have left hospitals and care centers. 14 deaths have been reported in the past 24 hours. Accordingly, the COVID-19 death toll in the country remains at 734 by this morning (6). As of this morning (6), 8,437 persons in 81 tri service-managed QCs are still in quarantine.
By this morning (6), at the time this announcement was released the number of isolated areas remains unchanged.
