704 More Infected Ones Reported in Past 24 Hrs-NOCPCO

As of this morning (16), a total of 704 more persons were confirmed positive to COVID-19 in the past 24 hours. 3 of them are expatriates and all other 701 were from locally-identified affectees. Of those persons 541 are from Colombo, 39 from Gampaha and 08 from Galle, states the National Operations Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO).

By 6.00 this morning (16), the total number of COVID-19 positive cases reported from Minuwangoda garment factory employees and Peliyagoda Fish Market stands at 13,780. By 6.00 this morning (16), 8,070 fully-recovered COVID-19 patients were discharged from hospitals in the past 24 hours. 3,106 of them were from the Minuwangoda cluster and all other 10,674 were from Peliyagoda Fish Market cluster.

Up to yesterday (16), a total of 17,286 persons were confirmed COVID-19 positive from all over the country. 11,494 fully-recovered COVID-19 patients have been so far discharged from hospitals and all other 5,734 are still under treatment in hospitals and care centers.

To-date, 58 COVID-19 positive deaths have been reported. Yesterday’s 5 deaths were from Colombo 13, 15, 12 and Colombo 8 areas. Within yesterday (15), in the past 24 hours, 171 persons recovered patients have left hospitals.

By this morning (16), about 30,000 persons of first and second contacts of COVID-19 positive cases are in self-quarantine.

As of this morning (16), the flight QR 668 from Doha, Qatar with 12 persons, the flight ET 8703 from Ethiopia with 78 passengers and the flight UL 455 from Japan with one person have arrived in Colombo. Within today (16), the flight UL 184 from Lahore, Pakistan with 05 passengers and the flight SG 9077 from Mumbai with 22 passengers are expected to land here. All those passengers were referred were to be referred to Quarantine Centres (QCs), managed by tri-services upon their arrival after formalities at the airport.

As of this morning (16), 3,168 persons in 33 tri service-managed QCs are still in quarantine. Within yesterday (15), 11,130 PCR tests were carried out across the country.
