More Sailors Recover & Leave Hospitals - NOCPCO

A total of 54 individuals upon completion of the quarantine process at Club Dolphin (5) and Rantambe (49) Quarantine Centres will leave for their homes after the conduct of PCR tests today (8) with Quarantine Certificates, a statement issued this morning (8) by Military Spokesman, Brigadier Chandana Wickremasinghe on behalf of the National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO) stated.

By today (8), a total of 12,235 quarantined individuals from tri service-managed QCs have left for their homes.

As of now, 5,282 persons are still in quarantine in 43 island-wide QCs, run by tri services.

By this morning 6.00 am 21 Covid-19 positive cases were reported. Of them there were 16 from Kuwait, 1 from Bangladesh, 2 from United Kingdom and 2 from Qatar.

Further, no positive cases of COVID -19 reported from heroic sailors and 36 heroic sailors were discharged from hospitals after full recovery.

By today (8), heroic sailors of the Navy confirmed positive to the COVID-19 virus stand at 847 in total. Of them, 508 after full recovery and PCR tests were discharged from hospitals. A total of 339 infected sailors are still under treatment in hospitals as of now, the statement ended.
