Group of Individuals from Japan To be Flown Back- Head, NOCPCO

The routine Media interaction at the National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO) at Rajagiriya took place this afternoon (15), headed by Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva, Head of the (NOCPCO), Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army and Attorney-at Law Ajith Rohana, Deputy Inspector General of Police.

"A group of individuals are to be flown to Sri Lanka tomorrow (16) from Japan by a Sri Lankan Flight and they all are to be taken to Army -managed Quarantine Centres (QCs) for quarantine process, " Lieutenant General Silva said.

"411 individuals who underwent quarantining at tri service-managed Mulankavil (60), Punani (47), Pel Wehera (50), Oluvil (19), Vavuniya (179) and 56 from Navy family centre Quarantine Centres after conduct of PCR tests on them left for their residences today (15) with Quarantine Certificates. By today (15), a total of 9258 quarantined individuals from tri service-managed Quarantine Centres (QC) have left for their homes. As of now, 2586 persons are still in quarantine in 34 island-wide QCs, run by tri-services."

"As of today (15), heroic sailors of the Navy confirmed positive to the COVID-19 virus stand at 479 in total. Of them, 151 after recovery and PCR tests were discharged. All those discharged heroic sailors are further detained for a period of two weeks for quarantining. A total of 328 sailors, infected with COVID-19 are still receiving treatment in hospitals," Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva concluded.
