NOCPCO Sums Up Day's Progress

A total of 197 more individuals, including students and state officials were flown to Sri Lanka early this morning (7) from Dubai by a Sri Lankan Flight and they all were taken to tri service-managed Quarantine Centres (QCs) for quarantine process, a media statement issued today (7) by the National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO) stated.

It further added that Modera, Rajagiriya and Kolonnawa-based 72 individuals who were suspected to have kept in touch with COVID-19-infected persons who were subjected to repeated PCR tests after taking them to Galkanda Quarantine Centre earlier, were found free from infection and sent to their residences. Accordingly, 148 individuals who underwent quarantining at Army-managed Panichchankerni, Meeyankulam, Katukeliyawa, Galkanda, Kalpitiya and Hekitta Quarantine Centres after conduct of PCR tests on them left for their residences today (7) with Quarantine Certificates. By today (7), a total of 5442 quarantined individuals from tri service-managed Quarantine Centres (QC) have left for their homes. As of now, 5182 persons are still in quarantine in island-wide 41 QCs, run by tri services. By today (7), heroic sailors of the Navy confirmed positive to the COVID-19 virus stood at 366 in total, most who were infected inside the camp. (284 inside the camp and 82 outside), the statement ended.
