Presidential Task Force Members at NOCPCO Evaluate Updates on Pandemic

One more session of the Presidential Task Force at the National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO), co-chaired by Mrs Pavithra Wanniarachchi, Hon Minster of Health, Head of the NOCPCO, Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva, Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army and Medical Specialist, Dr Anil Jasinghe, Director General of Health Services got underway on Monday (4) at the NOCPCO) at Rajagiriya.

Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva welcomed the members of the Presidential Task Force and guests who attended the meet at first and stated that the purpose of the meeting was to re-visit the updates and present status of the epidemic. He briefed on the status including PCR tests, arrivals of expatriates, and well-being of the public in society.

Medical Specialist, Dr Anil Jasinghe, Director General of Health Services presented a comprehensive briefing of the present status of the COVID 19 outbreak of the country and how it was controlled by medical experts with the close coordination of the tri services. Further, he stated that only a 3 percent from PCR tests was proved positive and the death percentage of the country stands at 1%.

Admiral (Retd) Prof. Jayanath Kolambage as the Additional Secretary to the President for Foreign Relations during his the statement explained about latest updates of arrivals of expatriates from Asian countries and the United Kingdom. Furthermore, he stated that upcoming arrivals from Australia, Singapore, Russia, Malaysia, etc are being closely coordinated through the Government.

Dr Lakmini Semathuna enlightened the experts by forwarding a presentation on the “present living status of the Colombo people”.

Towards the end, Head of NOCPCO Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva, Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army thanked the members for presenting their valuable ideas and suggestions. Also, he requested group members to convene and make timely modifications to suit action plans that have been already streamlined among working groups.
