By responding to a request made by the Specialist Dr Anil Jasinghe, Director-General of Health Service to the Chief of Defence Staff, Commander of the Army and Head of the National Operation Centre for Prevention of Covid-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO), troops of the Corps of Engineer Services (CES) improvised and renovated a neglected building in the National Institute of Mental Health premises and vested it in authorities for use of mentally-ill COVID-19 patients on Wednesday (29).
This building was renovated and completely improvised to suit those mentally-retarded patients since the need was badly felt for such isolation among ordinary patients.
Dr Anil Jasinghe, Director General Health Services, Brigadier R Ganegoda, Director Engineer Services, Lieutenant Colonel G.W.A.S.B Muhamdiramge, Commanding Officer 1 CES, officers hospital staff other ranks were present during its inauguration.
