The routine Media interaction at the National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO) at Rajagiriya took place this afternoon (27), headed by Mrs Pavithra Wanniarachchi, Hon Minister of Health, Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva, Head of the (NOCPCO), Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army, Medical Specialist Dr Anil Jasinghe, Director General of Health Services and Attorney-at Law Ajith Rohana, Deputy Inspector General of Police.
"A total of 74 individuals, inclusive of tri service personnel, state officials and students are to be flown to Sri Lanka today (27) from Dhaka in BaIngladesh this evening by Flight UL-190 and are to be taken to the Army-managed Punani Quarantine Centre (QC) for quarantine process. So far a total of 4512 quarantined individuals from the tri service-managed Quarantine Centres (QC) after conduct of PCR tests left for their residences as of today (27) with Quarantine Certificates.
Likewise, 58 family members of Navy personnel were directed to Mihintale and Nipuna Boossa QCs for quarantining on Sunday (26). Another batch is to be directed to QCs for the same purpose during the day. As of now, 3141 persons are still in quarantine in 31 island-wide QCs, run by tri services.
In the Welisara Navy camp, the total number of COVID-19 infected cases as of this evening rose to 180 with 112 positive sailors from the inside and 68 Naval personnel proved positive while on leave. By now, tri service personnel who had gone on leave around the country are now in the process of reporting back to their duty locations as per instructions given by us on Sunday (26). A new website www.covid19govt.lk now operational at the NOCPCO would provide all reports on COVID-19 and the status quo, "Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva added.
