3721 Quarantined Individuals Have So Far Left for Their Homes - Head of NOCPCO

Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva, Head of the National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID -19 Outbreak (NOCPCO) in a video clip released to the Media this evening (16) had this to say:

"In the past few days, several persons from Ja-ela-Suduwella areas were identified as COVID-19 contracted positive victims. Investigations that followed compelled us to direct 118 persons, said to have had close contact with those positive ones in Nagalagam street, Grandpass, to the Sampoor Quarantine Centre (QC). To further control the transmission, Nagalagam street was isolated today (16).

20 more quarantined personnel in Army-managed Quarantine Centre (QC) at Panichchankerni left for homes today (16) after completion of PCR tests.

At present, 1631 individuals are still in quarantine in tri service-managed QCs. Up to-date, 3721 personnel after completion of quarantining in tri service-managed Quarantine Centers have left for homes. As of today we have received 80 completed PCR test reports with no confirmed infected patients. All such persons after health procedures are scheduled to be sent home.

In addition, doctors and nursing staff in quarantine in Waikkal Dolphin Hotel continue to remain in quarantine. One more team thus underwent quarantine has left for home from this place."
