Vavuniya District Authorities Review COVID - 19 Developments

The Commander, Security Forces - Wanni, Major General Hemantha Bandara as the Overall Coordinator of Prevention of COVID - 19 for Vavuniya district presided one more coordinating conference on Sunday (13) at the District Secretariat Office - Vavuniya with the participation of the District Secretary - Vavuniya, Mr S.M Saman Bandulasena and a host of state officials.

Commander, 56 Division, Major General Nandana Dunuwila, Commander, 563 Brigade, Brigadier Panduka Perera, Senior Superintendent of Police - Vavuniya Division, SSP Tissa Lal de Silva and all OICs of Vavuniya district Police, Regional Director of Health Services, other government officials and representatives of the Wholesalers Association were among the attendees.

The purpose of the meeting was to co-ordinate the mechanism to control fast spreading COVID-19 pandemic in close cooperation with health officials, Policemen and other stakeholders.

Regional Director of Health Service, Dr Mahendran briefed the situation emphasizing the importance of adhering to health instructions in order to prevent the rapid spread of the virus among the community. Security Forces Commander further instructed all to support the mechanism by sticking to health guidelines.

Other matters of relevance were also taken up during these discussions.
