Two More ICCs with 230 Beds Ready in Trinco

Trincomalee district's Kiliveddy Hospital and 'Hameedia' Garment Factory in Sampoor are being converted into Covid 19 Intermediate Care Centres (ICC) by troops of the 222 Brigade, 223 Brigade, 15 Sri Lanka Light Infantry and 22 Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment battalions.

Both Intermediate Care Centres (ICCs) have the capacity to admit 80 patients at Kiliveddy Hospital and 150 patients at 'Hameedia' Garment Factory respectively.

The ICCs for use in an emergency were made a reality with the support of the Health officials and workers at hospitals in coordination with the 22 Division and 223 Brigade troops as per guidelines given by Major General Channa Weerasooriya Commander Security Forces- East.

The conversion process of those ICCs started on the directions of the Head, NOCPCO, Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army with the cooperation and coordination of Major General Samantha Silva, General Officer Commanding, 22 Division, Brigadier Viraj Wimalasena, Commander 222 Brigade and Brigadier Shantha Perera, Commander 223 Brigade.
