The national vaccination, being conducted by Army medical personnel at Panagoda Bodhi Rajaramaya (Army Temple) was closely supervised by Major General Sujeewa Senarathyapa, Commander, Security Forces-West on Monday (9) in order to ensure the project was continued with less inconvenience to the general public.
On the directions of General Shavendra Silva, Chief of Defence Staff , Commander of the Army and Head, National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO), Colonel (Dr) Saveen Semage, Director, Directorate of Preventive Medicine and Mental Health Services in the Army and all other staff have thrown their full weight behind the project as Army medical teams went on jabbing the 2nd dose of AstraZeneca (Covishield), Sinopharm doses as instructed by the Presidential Task Force.
A special queue at the location facilitated physically-handicapped, feeble and old civilians and seriously sick patients on a priority basis as per instructions given by HE the President during the last meeting of the Presidential Task Force against COVID-19 transmission.
Similarly, Army-managed island-wide Vaccination Centres are continuing their vaccination programmes as scheduled. The 24-hr open Vihara Maha Devi Park one and Diyatha Uyana ones are the biggest crowd-pullers.
