A Quick Reaction Team (QRT) of 20 Army riders, following an initiative, proposed by Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva, Head of the Nation Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO), Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army is now engaged in carrying out random temperature checks on groups of people who have arrived in Colombo on essential services in a bid to further strengthen the ongoing preventive mechanism of the government against COVID-19 in most risky Colombo district.
The novel practice that would promptly diagnose potential persons with abnormal temperature who are unaware of their infection condition has simultaneously devised a resultant mechanism which could direct such individuals immediately to the respective hospitals for necessary onward arrangements.
The project, now in operation has been facilitated by the Directorate of Army Operations, and the Army urges the public on essential services to cooperate with those QRT members who would reach you for your own safety and randomly conduct such temperature checks.
