The Presidential Task Force (PTF) at Rajagiriya National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO), headed by Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva, Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army and Medical Specialist Dr Anil Jasingha, Director General Health Services this afternoon (27) had one more review of the developments as regards the status quo of COVID-19 transmission in the country, together with a handful of experts and other stakeholder.
Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva welcomed PTF members and guests before all in the meeting evaluated updates, new outbreak among expatriates, conduct of PRC tests, future prospects, etc, transport modalities, continued social distancing practices and highlighted the sustenance of continued health safety practices among the general public in the interest of the society at large.
Discussions also focused on relaxation of restrictions and methodical 'unlocking' of the country to bring normalcy and economic prospects through strategic approaches. Possibilities of resumption of tourist industry through health tourism across the country as a viable alternative to attract tourists in the future.
They also took stock of the status quo, conduct of PCR tests, arrival of expatriates and the progress of ongoing preventive work, quarantine procedures, repatriation of more expatriates from overseas and infrastructure capacities of Quarantine Centres and opening of alternative QCs in the event of any emergency or need of more space for accommodation of them.
