More Expatriates Brought Down-NOCPCO

As of this morning (2), a total of 545 including 541 locally-identified persons and 4 expatriates, UAE, (2) and Japan (2) were confirmed positive to COVID-19 in the past 24 hours. Among them, are 294 persons from Colombo region, 130 persons from Kalutara area and 36 from Kandy region, states the National Operations Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO).

By 6.00 this morning (2), the total number of COVID-19 positive cases reported from Minuwangoda garment factory employees and Peliyagoda Fish Market cluster stands at 20,979. Meanwhile, 14,409 fully-recovered COVID-19 patients from both Minuwangoda (3,059) and fish market (17,920) clusters have been discharged from hospitals.

Up to yesterday (1), a total of 24,531 persons have been confirmed COVID-19 positive from all over the country, including the dead. 17,816 fully-recovered COVID-19 patients have been so far discharged from hospitals and the rest 6,593 are still under treatment in hospitals and care centres.

In the past 24 hours by this morning (2), 257 persons recovered patients have left hospitals and care centres.

To-date, 122 COVID-19 positive deaths have been reported. Yesterday’s 04 deaths were from Rajagiriya, Colombo 12, Kolonnawa and Colombo 10 areas.

By this morning (2), the flight UL 104 from Mali with 44 passengers, the flight QR 668 from Qatar with 21 passengers and the flight UL 226 from Dubai with 52 passengers have arrived in Colombo. Likewise, the flight UL 102 from India with 70 passengers is expected to land here this morning (2).They all were/were to be referred to Quarantine Centres (QCs), managed by tri-services upon their arrival after formalities at the airport.

As of this morning (2), 6,461 persons in 59 tri service-managed QCs are still in quarantine. Within yesterday (1), 7,463 PCR tests were carried out.
