Kilinochchi Security Forces Ready with Three ICCs to Meet with Any Emergency

In order to be prepared for any increase of COVID-19 patients in the Kilinochchi region , the Security Force HQ-Kilinochchi completed conversion of the 2nd and 3rd Intermediate Care Centres (ICCs) by Tuesday (19) as per guidelines given by General Shavendra Silva, Head, NOCPCO, Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army and under the guidance of Major General Harendra Ranasinghe, Commander, Security Forces Kilinochchi and District Coordinating Officer for COVID-19 Prevention in Kilinochchi District.

Earlier, Security Forces Kilinochchi completed the improvisation at Bharathipuram with 200 beds. Of late, troops converted the Army camp of 20 Sri Lanka Light Infantry (A Company) in Paranthan to be an Intermediate Care Centre (ICC) with 200 beds. Commander Security Forces-Kilinochchi made an observation visit to the ICC thus converted at Paranthan which was ready to be functional from Monday (17) onwards.

Similarly, Security Forces in Kilinochchi converted Murukkandi Quarantine Centre to serve as an Intermediate Care Centre (ICC) with 350 beds.

During the visit, he inquired into their needs and had a chat with the medical staff as regards its operational and supporting roles. Further, he appreciates dedication and commitments of the troops who are involving this critical period of our society along with General Officers Commanding, Brigade commanders and other formation commanders.

Regional Director of Health Services Dr. R.N Sarvanabawan, Dr. Tharanga from Darmapuram hospital, Head of the Nursing staff Mr. Kupenthirarajah Muralitharan, General Officer Commanding 57 Division Major General Priyantha Jayawardena, Brigadier Administration and Quartering Brigadier Deepal Hathurusinghe, Colonel General Staff of the SFHQ (KLN) and other senior officers at the Army Base Hospital Kilinochchi Dr Selwam - IDH Krishnapuram, Commander Forward Maintenance Area Major General Piyal Naanayakkarawasam, General Officer Commanding 66 Division Major General Ajith Dissanayake, Brigadier Administration and Quartering Brigadier Deepal Hathurusinghe, Commander 662 Brigade Colonel Chaminda Liyanage, Colonel General Staff of the SFHQ (KLN), Commanding Officer 20 Sri Lanka Light Infantry and other senior officers at the Army Base Hospital in SFHQ (KLN) also participated in separate inaugural occasions of those ICCS a few days ago.
