The routine Media briefing at the National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO) at Rajagiriya took place this afternoon (3), headed by Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva, Head of the (NOCPCO), Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army.
“The isolation blockades that were in place in Pannila, Beruwala in the Kalutara district, China Kotuwa area and Akurana in Kandy district were removed from today (3) on medical advice. Those areas would now remain normal as in other areas.
207 expatriates including students and state officials will arrive in Sri Lanka this evening from London. They will also be sent to Quarantine Centres (QCs) for necessary quarantining.
11 more personnel who completed the quarantine process at the Damminna QC (9) and Welikanda Hospital (2) were sent back to their homes after PCR tests. A total of 4917 quarantined individuals have left the QCs, manned by tri-services as of today (3).
Meanwhile, 1023 individuals, including family members and close associates of the heroic Naval COVID-19 affected personal were sent to the quarantine centres for the quarantine process.
With that, 4635 individuals in 36 tri service-managed QCs are still in quarantine,” Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva added.
