Iranians Arriving for Uma Oya Project To be Kept in Quarantine- NOCPCO

The Flight No UL -1282 from Pakistan arrived in Sri Lanka this morning (15) with 130 Sri Lankans. Of them, 58 (51 Military Officers and 7 Military family members) are military personnel and all those Sri Lankans were sent to Quarantine Centres (QCs) managed by tri services for necessary quarantine process, a Media Release issued this evening (15) by the National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO) at Rajagiriya stated.

85 Iranians, belonging to one of the main contractors in the ongoing Uma Oya Multi purpose Development Project will arrive in Sri Lanka today by the passenger aircraft IR-5374. All of them will be sent to Karandagolla special Residential Quarantine center, maintained under the supervision of the Army (Now they all are temporally stay at Blue Water Hotel, Negombo).

Meanwhile, 222 individuals after completion of the quarantine process at Brandix Poonani (08), CTS Ampara (29), Pelwehera (88), Hotel Shelton (07) and 59 Division Training school (90) Quarantine Centres have left for their homes today (15) after the conduct of PCR tests and with Quarantine Certificates.

Today (15), a total of 14,097 quarantined individuals from tri service-managed QCs have left for their homes.

As of now, 4,384 persons are still in quarantine in 43 island-wide QCs, run by tri services.

By this evening (1600 hours), no COVID-19 positive cases were reported among Navy personnel. Similarly, 32 more heroic sailors recovered and left hospitals today (15).

As of now, heroic sailors of the Navy confirmed positive to the COVID-19 virus stand at 882 in total. Of them, 740 after full recovery and PCR tests were discharged from hospitals. A total of 142 infected sailors are still under treatment in hospitals as of now, the statement ended.
