Army Runs 24 Hr Open Vaccination Centres for 2nd Dose of AstraZeneca Vaccine

The Sri Lanka Army Medical Corps (SLAMC) personnel of the Directorate of Preventive Medicine and Mental Health Services extending their prioritized concern for the national vaccination drive as per close instructions of General Shavendra Silva, Head, National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO), Chief of Staff and Commander of the Army, have for the first time begun a round the clock vaccination project for the 2nd dose of the AstraZeneca (Covishield) at the Viharamaha Devi Park Open Theater, Colombo ( 1st & 2nd August) and Battaramulla ‘Diyatha Uyana’ (from 2nd August onwards until Wednesday) round the clock.

Likewise, vaccination centres at Narahenpita Colombo Army Hospital, Panagoda Bodhi Rajaramaya (Army Temple) and the Werahera Army Medical Corps Camp will remain operational from Sunday (August 01) morning till evening until further notice. On a Presidential directive, Army medical teams, headed by Colonel (Dr) Saveen Semage, Director, Directorate of Preventive Medicine and Mental Health Services in the Army have thrown their full weight behind the national project since its inception under the guidelines given by Head, NOCPCO.

Similarly, the vaccination centres at Kelaniya Dharmashoka Vidyalaya, Kadawatha Kirillawala Central College and Negombo Mari Stella College in the Gampaha district will also continue to vaccinate the second dose for all those who had already got the first dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine earlier.

The 24-hour open vaccination centre at Battaramulla ‘Diyatha Uyana’ will continue to be operational from Monday (2), Tuesday (3) and Wednesday (4) and the general public, expecting to receive the jab are advised to bring their Vaccination Card plus the National Identity Card with them.
