3 SLSR & 19 SLNG Troops-Converted ICC at Ramboda, Now Functional

A government building used by Thondaman Cultural Centre at Ramboda, Nuwara Eliya was recently improvised by combined 3 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment and 19 Sri Lanka National Guard troops as an Intermediate Care Center (ICC) in order to accommodate 275 patients (275-Beds) at any given time in the event of any surge in COVID-19 patients.

So far, troops of the Security Forces-Central have improvised the National Youth Corps - Kande-ela, Meepilimana (150-Beds), Divisional Hospital - Walapane (87-Beds), National Institute of Plantation Management- Bogawantalawa (146-Beds) and the Town Hall - Nuwara Eliya (500-Beds) as ICCs in Nuwara Eliya District to meet with any emergency in the Central Province.

Those troops extended their untiring support for the construction of the new ICC too. Hon State Minister of Estate Housing and Community Infrastructure Jeevan Thondaman readily allocated the premises. The District Secretary and all officials at the District Secretariat, together with the staff at Kotmale Divisional Secretariat and Health Sector Staff at Nuwara Eliya supported the project.

The new ICC was formally handed over to health authorities by the Commander Security Forces - Central, Major General Ranjan Lamahewage on Friday (28). This ICC conversion process was carried out with the cooperation of Major General Kithsiri Liyanage - General Officer Commanding 11 Division, Brigadier Anura Dissanayake - Commander 112 Brigade and Major Asitha Ranathilake, Commanding Officer, 3rd Battalion Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment at Nuwara Eliya.

District Secretary for Nuwara Eliya, Mr. G K G A R P K Nandana, Assistant Government Agent - Kothmale - Mrs. O S Perera, District Director of Health Service - Dr. R Manathunga & District Epidemiologist - Dr. Madura Seneviratne were also present on the occasion.
