3 More Die of COVID-19 - NOCPCO

As of this morning (8), a total of 221 more persons were confirmed positive to COVID-19 in the past 24 hours. 31 Sri Lankan expatriates and 190 of those positive cases are locally-identified ones, including the majority 54 from Colombo District, 46 from Jaffna district, 29 from Rathnapura district and 61 others from different districts, states the National Operations Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO).

By this morning (8), a total of 93,992 persons, inclusive of 89,535 of the fish market and Minuwangoda Brandix cluster have been confirmed positive to COVID-19 from all over the country, including the dead. 90,916 fully-recovered COVID-19 patients have been so far discharged from hospitals and the rest 2,485 are still under treatment in hospitals and care centers.

In the past 24 hours, 209 recovered patients have left hospitals and care centres. 3 more deaths have been reported from Hettipola, Homagama and Thanamalwila areas in the past 24 hours. Accordingly, the COVID-19 death toll in the country rose to 591 by this morning (8).

As of this morning (8), 10,547 persons in 102 tri service-managed QCs are still in quarantine. Within yesterday (7) 6,591 PCR tests have been conducted.
