236 Sri Lankan Ship Crew to be Flown Home

A total of 18 individuals upon completion of quarantine process at Hotel Blue Waters Quarantine Centre (2) and Nipuna Boossa (16) left for their homes after conduct of PCR tests today (5) with Quarantine Certificates, a statement issued this evening (5) by Military Spokesman, Brigadier Chandana Wickremasinghe on behalf of the National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO) stated.

By today (5), a total of 11,727 quarantined individuals from tri service-managed QCs have left for their homes.

As of now, 5,222 persons are still in quarantine in 45 island-wide QCs, run by tri services.

The UL 1206 Sri Lankan Flight is scheduled to arrive in Mattala Rajapaksa International Airport tomorrow (6) from Hamburg, Germany with expatriates, comprised of 236 civil ship crew stranded in foreign ports.

They all will be sent to the tri services-managed Quarantine Centres after PCR tests.

By today (5), heroic sailors of the Navy confirmed positive to the COVID-19 virus stand at 844 in total. Of them, 443 after full recovery and PCR tests were discharged from hospitals. A total of 401 infected sailors are still under treatment in hospitals as of now, the statement ended.
