To meet with any contingency plan, 221 Brigade troops of the 22 Division in Trincomalee are giving finishing touches to the Army-improvised Intermediate Care Centre (ICC) with 115 beds at Nilaveli Samurdhi Training Centre to be in line with the directions given by Head of the NOCPCO, General Shavendra Silva, Chief of Defence staff and Commander of the Army after records confirmed a surge in numbers.
On Monday (10), District Secretary for Trincomalee, Mr. Saman Dharshana Padikorala, Deputy Regional Director of Health Services for Trincomalee Dr. V Premanath and MOH Kuchchaweli Dr. S Yamuna, General Officer Commanding, 22 Division Major General Samantha Silva, Commander 221 Brigade Brigadier Priyantha Kariyawasam and a few other officials made an observation visit to the improvised ICC and inquired into different facets of the project.
This ICC with 115 beds, improvised under the close supervision of Major General Samantha Silva, General Officer Commanding - 22 Division in close collaboration with health authorities and Commander 221 Brigade Brigadier Priyantha Kariyawasam is scheduled to become operational from 15 May 2021.
