121 Brigade Troops Improvise New Intermediate Care Centre at Wellawaya

Hambantota-based 12 Division HQ of the Security Force HQ-Central in order to support national prevention efforts against COVID-19 transmission converted the Youth Training Center at Wellawaya into an Intermediate Care Centre (ICC) and formally handed it to Wellawaya Hospital on Saturday (8).

The General Officer Commanding, 12 Division, Major General Prasanna Ranawaka after carefully assessing the prevailing situation in Hambanthota with Colonel Udaya Serasinghe, Commander 121 Brigade instructed troops to turn the Youth Centre to be an ICC to accommodate more and more infected patients in Hambantota District.

Urgent improvisations and additions were carried out by 20 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment troops of the 121 Brigade under the close supervision of the troops' Commanding Officer. The improvised ICC became functional from Saturday (8) onwards.
