The routine Media interaction at the National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO) at Rajagiriya took place this afternoon (5), headed by Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva, Head of the (NOCPCO), Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army, Medical Specialist, Dr Anil Jasinghe, Director General of Health Services and Attorney at Law Ajith Rohana, Deputy Inspector General of Police.
“A total of 217 quarantined individuals from Kundasale (3) Quarantine Centre (QC), Navy-managed Boossa QC (11) and Air Force-managed Mullaittivu QC (203) after the two-week long quarantine process, left for their residences this morning (6) after receipt of Quarantine Certificates. All those who left after quarantining in QCs have been asked to undergo another two-week long self quarantining at their homes. We wish to inform that only the quarantined person has to self quarantine in this way after his return and not all other members of the family as alleged. A total of 3386 quarantined individuals have so far left those QCs, manned by tri services. Another batch of quarantined individuals is also ready to proceed home by tomorrow (7) morning upon 14-day long quarantining,” Lieutenant General Silva said.
“Accordingly, out of all 40 QCs, 36 QCs are manned by the Army, 3 by the Air Force and 1 by the Navy as at present. A gathering of 1287 persons are still under 14 day-long quarantine process. On the instructions of HE the President and Hon PM, a consortium of about 50 indigenous medical practitioners, inclusive of Ayurvedic physicians, Homeopathy practitioners, members of the National Committee for Indigenous Physicians, Task force members and those engaged in the field met together at the NOCPCO on Sunday (5) afternoon and discussed ways of controlling this epidemic through indigenous medicines and practices. Certain curative methods as a result have already been suggested and forward for onward action by those medical practitioners,” Lieutenant General Silva claimed.
