An Iftar Ceremony was held at the Army School of Logistics (ASL) on 13 March 2026 evening with the objective of fostering religious harmony and strengthening mutual understanding within the multicultural environment of the institution.
The Commandant of the Army School of Logistics, Brigadier DIS Jayasinghe ndc psc graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. The event was further honoured by the presence of the foreign student officer, Major Asifur Rahman psc of the Bangladesh Army, who attended as the Guest of Honour together with his spouse.
The ceremony was attended by members of the faculty, members of the permanent staff and student officers of Logistics Staff Course 12 (LSC 12), who participated in the event with great enthusiasm and camaraderie. As Sheikh M.N.M.Harees (Nathwy), a respected Islamic scholar and a lecturer of Nathwathul Ulama Arabic College, Mutur delivered a brief sermon during the ceremony.
Organized in keeping with the spirit of the holy month of Ramadan, the Iftar gathering provided an opportunity for officers of different religious and cultural backgrounds to come together in fellowship. The event reflected the Army School of Logistics’ continued commitment to promoting religious harmony, mutual respect and unity among its members while nurturing a professional and inclusive learning environment. In appreciation of the spiritual serenity he had bestowed upon the student officers and the staff of ASL the Commandant of ASL Brigadier Sudeera Jayasinghe delivered a memento to As Sheikh M.N.M.Harees (Nathwy).
The evening concluded with the breaking of the fast and a fellowship dinner, further strengthening the bonds of friendship and understanding among all those present.
