Army School of Logistics (ASL) is the highest learning seat of the Sri Lanka Army in the field of Logistics. From its inception ASL has conducted 7 Logistics Staff Courses and produced more than 177 x Logistics Staff qualified officers of the Sri Lanka Army, 4 x officers of the Sri Lanka Navy and 03 x officers to the Sri Lanka Air Force. Moreover, ASL has produced nearly 13 x foreign student officers form Bangladesh, Maldives, Pakistan, Nepal and Zambia in past courses. In addition to that other courses including JOLC, commissioning of QM Course and SNCOs Course also conducting successfully.
Day by day the ASL is stepping towards success and as a result of guidance of the Commandant Brigadier Ranjan Jayasekara USP psc, the School has been able to come up from its isolation in the field of Communication and Networking. On the invitation of the Commandant, the Colonel Commandant of the Sri Lanka Signal corps and the Chief Signal Officer Major General PAJ Peiris ndu officially launched and handed over the new Internet Protocol (IP) Communication System and connected with the EI with the Army telephone network on 07 January 2022 at the ASL premises.
Under the direct supervision of Major General Ashoka Peiris and dedication of the Signal Brigade Commander Brigadier GLSW Liyanage USP psc the dream of ASL could be materialized by connecting with the basic network system of the SL Army. The IP Communication System originated and produced by Japan in the year 2021. It has 200 extension lines and can be upgraded approximately 1500 lines. In addition to that, it has a number of sophisticated facilities such as speed dialing, capability in the trunk, station hunting, flexible deployment, ability of transparent TDM, IP or Digital voice support and mobility access.
The program consisted of officially handing over the new IP Communication System with Technical Presentation, link up EI with Sri Lanka Army communication network as a main occurrence. Apart from that, The Chief Signal Officer visited the ASL Computer Laboratory and inspected IT facilities available at ASL in order to improve facilities in future. The Ranaviru Information Technology Training Institution (RITTI) - Trincomalee also included in his visit which is situated in the ASL premises.
During his visit, he focused and emphasized that improving facilities in training establishments is very important as per the given instructions of the Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army, General Shavendra Silva WWV RWP RSP VSP USP ndc psc Mphil and that great concept will directly pioneer to create strong Army not only in physically but also in mentally intellectually.
Senior Officers, Members of the Permanent Staff and the Other Ranker students - RITTI Course No 17 participated in the event.
The event was concluded with the lunch and keeping the remarks on the visitors book at the School marking the end of a fruitful and successful.
