THE ARMY SCHOOL OF LOGISTICS HAS ITS NEW YEAR CELEBRATION

Any society, culture, and religion celebrate the beginning of the year by a New Year festival. There have been such celebrations to mark the beginning of a new year for thousands of years. Most people believe the New Year is the perfect time to make a change within themselves and set goals for their betterment in the coming year.

The Army School of Logistics warmly welcomed the New Year 2022, with fresh thoughts and new hopes by practicing the traditionally milk boiling custom. All staff of the Army School of Logistics, under the patronage of the Commandant, Brigadier JARSK Jaysekara USP psc, celebrated the New Year on 03 January 2022 in order to follow the instructions of Army Head Quarters. The Senior Instructors, Faculty Members, Permanent Staff, Student Officers and all ranks took part in the parade.

The Commandant, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest by hoisting of the National and the Army flag with the Chief Instructor of ASL Col YKS Rangika psc. Then the National Anthem and the Army song were sung to mark the formal commencement of the day’s event. Two-minute silence was observed in memory of fallen War Heroes. Next the pledge was read by the School Adjutant, Major ATA Wimalaweeras and all particants took oath. This followed the reading of the special message of the Chief of Defence Staff and The Commander of the Sri Lanka Army.

On observing heath precautions, S/652774 Cpl Bandara MGYB - 1 SLAMC from Sri Lanka Medical Corps presented valuable points regarding the COVID 19 pandemic. He mentioned that, still we have to deal with this dangerous virus and no one can get rid of the risks under any situation without obeying and following the methods of precautions and given health guidelines.
