THE HASH RUN OF THE JUNIOR OFFICERS LOGISTICS COURSE NO 19

Hashing originated in December 1938 in Kuala Lumpur, in Malaysia, by a group of Colonial British Officers. They used to get together at every week and participated in a game of hunting which was called “Hare and Hounds” to get rid of their monotonous life. From the excitement of chasing the hare and finding the trail they gained adventure, and those who reached the end of the trail were rewarded with beer, ginger and cigarettes.

‘The Hash Run’ of the Junior Officers’ Logistics Course (JOLC) No 19 was held on 01 June 2023. The Commandant Brigadier EMM Fernando Hdmc AATO Lsc mark the start of this remarkable event. The Hash Run was organized with the intention of promoting team building and entertainment among the Student Officers amidst their busy schedule marking the completion of the First term of the course. It is hoped that the event improves the leadership qualities, initiating expedition, facing excitement and adventure in unity and good coordination with their colleagues.

Hash Run is one of the main entertainment events of JOLC, organized by an appointed Student Committee in which the Officers, Student Officers, Academic and Permanent Staff members take part. It is a 4-6 km adventure cross camp walk. The run was fueled with a refreshment point that was laid on the trial. After the completion of the run, all the officers had an enjoyable after session, which comprised of sports events and a get together at the Sweat Bay beach.
