SINHALA AND HINDU NEW YEAR CELEBRATION - ARMY SCHOOL OF LOGISTICS- 2023

The ‘Sinhala and Hindu New Year’ marks the movement of the sun from the zodiac house of ‘Pisces’ (Meena Rashiya) to the house of ‘Aries’ (Mesha Rashiya) the worship of ‘Sun God’ which was believed to be originated among the Aryans was another base for this festival.

To celebrate this cultural event the annual “Sinhala and Hindu New Year” festival of Army School of Logistics (ASL) has traditionally been celebrated on Thursday (06) April 2023 at the school premises under the guidance of the Commandant, Brigadier EMM Fernando Hdmc Lsc AATO.

This New Year festival is comprised of traditional games such as pillow fighting, eye-placing on the elephant, bun-eating, tug of war, running through obstacles, musical chairs, fancy-dress competition etc. The festival premises had been decorated to commemorate the traditional customs and rituals, rural house (Gami Gedara) and the village boutique (Kadamandiya)

These events were successfully held with the participation of the Commandant, Senior Officers, Officers, Student Officers and Other Ranks of the ASL.
