EDUCATIONAL VISIT TO LANKA INDIAN OIL CORPORATION TRINCOMALEE OF LOGISTIC STAFF COURSE NO 09

Lanka IOC PLC is a subsidiary of Indian Oil Corporation which operates retail petrol and diesel stations in Sri Lanka. Lanka IOC PLC is Sri Lanka's only private sector organization retailing fuels with an island-wide distribution network. As a part of the course curriculum, the Student Officers of Logistics Staff Course (LSC) had the opportunity to visit the Lanka IOC PLC Oil Terminal at China Bay, Trincomalee. The main objective of this visit is to provide Student Officers with acquaintance with modern theories and practices of logistics planning and management at significant industries.

Accordingly, Brigadier EMM Fernando Hdmc Lsc AATO, the Commandant of Army School of Logistics (ASL), the Chief Instructor and the Members of the faculty, Students Officers of LSC No 9 paid a visit to Lanka IOC PLC on 03 February 2023.

The ASL Delegation was welcomed by the Senior Vice President Mr. D Mukerji and presented a comprehensive briefing on Lanka IOC PLC and the historical significance of the oil storing site. The one-day workshop was conducted covering topics on the Logistics and Supply Chain Management of petroleum products such as petrol, diesel, furnace oil and lubricant products and also included a site visit to the tank farm, jetty, the fire pump house, the lubricant plant and laboratory. During the training, quality control norms and safety features in the terminal were explained to the participants. At the conclusion the Student Officers were also treated with a delicious lunch and awarded with certificates.

The Commandant awarded a memento and a copy of "The Golden Log" magazine to mark the visit.
