The Convocation of Logistics Staff Course No. 10 was grandiosely held at the Faculty of Graduate Studies auditorium of General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University (KDU) on 05 December 2024. The Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage RWP RSP ndu, graced the graduation ceremony as the Chief Guest. The Chief Guest was warmly received by the Commandant of the Army School of Logistics. Further, the dignitaries including Chief of Staff, Deputy Chief of Staff, Vice Chancellor of KDU, Heads of Diplomatic Missions, members of the Diplomatic Corps, the ASL Board of Management, members of the academic community, Senior Officers from the Tri-services attributed in enhancing the grandeur of the event. Nevertheless, it had been an unforgettable moment for the family members of the graduands who witnessed the success of their loved ones.
Logistics Staff Course is the highest professional qualification offered in the field of logistics for the middle grade Officers in the Army. The course is conducted with primary curriculum categories in military study groups as military studies, academic studies and personal development are covered in two semesters divided into four terms besides the intellectual lectures and the dissertation in the Army study groups. From the inception, the Army School of Logistics has completed the graduation of 257 officers including officers from sister services and Officers from Bangladesh Army, Maldives National Defence Force, Napalese Army, Pakistan Army and Zambian Army.
Recently, the school witnessed the graduation of LSC No.10 consisting of 24 Officers of the Sri Lanka Army, an Officer from the Zambian Army, and two Officers from Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF) received their parchments. Marking a milestone in their military career, the grandaunts received their parchments from the Commander of the Army. Major VSK Samarawickrama of Sri Lanka Army Ordnance Corps secured both the First in Order of Merit and Best Logistics Planner awards with his exceptional performance and commitment.
The graduands could place the post nominal of Lsc and to be honoured to adorn the LSC badge to their uniform to recognize the qualification of LSC. As a lead up to partial qualification for the Master of Business Administration in Logistics Management awarded by the General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University will place the path to gain the Masters in Logistics Management on completion of the research paper.
Further, the launching of “The Golden Log”: the annual journal published by the Army School of Logistics was marked by presenting the first copy to the Chief Guest.
In honour of his gracious presence, the Commandant of Army School of Logistics graciously presented a memento to the Commander of the Army.
