ARMY SCHOOL OF LOGISTICS LAUNCHED A ONE WEEK TREE PLANTING PROGRAM

All staff of the Army School of Logistics, under the patronage of the Commandant, Brigadier JARSK Jayasekara USP psc, celebrated the 74th Independence Day on 04 February 2022 in order to follow the instructions by Army Head Quarters. Giving further significance and prominence to the 74th Independence Day, the ASL has been able to provide its great contribution the enhancement of the reforestation in Sri Lanka by launching a one-week tree planting program in the camp premises as well as nearest temples. The Commandant briefed the value of the concept which has been introduced by the Chief of Defence Staff and the Commander of the Sri Lanka Army General Shavendra Silva WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc MPhil for a green Sri Lanka. The Chief Instructor, the Senior Instructors, Faculty Members, Permanent Staff, Student Officers Sri Lanka and all ranks took part in the program.

Specially, foreign Student Officers from Nepal and Bangladesh, Student Officers who represent sister services as Sri Lanka Navy and Air Force and all the Student Officers got their opportunity to take part in this valuable event by planting saplings.

Program: one-week tree planting program in parallel with 74th Independence day.

Objective - To provide more significance for the green concept which is emphasized by the Chief of Defence Staff and the Commander of the Sri Lanka Army General Shavendra Silva WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc MPhil.

Patronage: Commandant of the ASL, Brigadier JARSK Jaysekara USP psc.

Student Officers - LSC No 08 - including Foreign Officers from Nepal, Bangladesh and Student Officers from Sri Lanka Navy and Air Force Junior Officers Logistics Course No 18.

All ranks took part in the program.

Places - This followed planting of Bodhi saplings of 28 trees to represent their shades given to 28 Buddhas at their enlightenment in addition to planting other various saplings at the camp premises.
