All staff of the Army School of Logistics, under the patronage of the Commandant, Brigadier JARSK Jaysekara USP psc, celebrated the 74th Independence Day on 04 February 2022 in order to follow the instructions by Army Head Quarters.
The celebration began with hoisting of the National Flag. Then the National Anthem and the Army song were sung to mark the formal commencement of the day’s event. Two-minute silence was observed in memory of fallen War Heroes. Then the special message of the Chief of Defence Staff and the Commander of the Sri Lanka Army General Shavendra Silva WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc MPhill was read by the School Adjutant. Giving further significance and prominence to the 74th Independence Day a tree planting program was held at the premises with the participation of permanent Staff, Student Officers and all ranks.
Arrangements were made to watch on screen the glory of the 74th independence parade including the special message of his Excellency Gotabaya Rajapaksha the President of Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka which was held at Independence Square, CBO.
Further, the three Officers and the NCOs who were elevated to their next ranks on Independence Day were adorned insignias in parallel to the event by the Commandant. As another special event, newly built kitchen at Sargent mess also declared opened.
With the direction of the Commandant of the ASL Brigadier Ranjan Jayasekara USP psc, special religious rituals were conducted. This followed planting of Bodhi saplings of 28 trees to represent their shades given to 28 Buddhas at their enlightenment.
