HEALTHY ARMY HEALTHY NATION

Knowledge and skills development are primarily expected through routine schedules of the training day in the Headquarters of the Volunteer Force, and inspirational hours of an awareness lecture on “Healthy Army Healthy Nation” which is a contemporary compatible with the present context of the establishment was taken place on 27 September 2022 at the Multifunctional Hall on the concept of Major General D G S Senarath Yapa RWP RSP ndu, the Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force.

The lecture was conducted by the Consultant Physician, Colonel Lakmini Ranasinghe KSP who is specialized in Community Medicine, and the programme got underway under the supervision of Major General M T K R Silva KSP, the Deputy Commandant, Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force.

The lecture briefly spelt out the unhealthy food addiction leading for non-communicable diseases which have severe effect on the well-functioning of the human body, and prevention from ill habits. During the latter part of the session, an Office Workout Programme consists of a High-intensity interval training (HIIT) protocol was introduced as a convenient and smooth approach for exercising while on duties as per the nature of a military establishment.

A training session was brought out introducing HIIT exercises, and the programme was attended by Senior Officers, Officers, and Other Ranks of the Headquarters.
