CIVILIAN WALLET WITH CASH AND VALUABLES RETURNED TO RIGHTFUL OWNER BY SENIOR ARMY OFFICER

Setting an admirable example for all members of the Sri Lanka Army, Colonel W M D H R K Welikanna RWP, the Colonel General Staff of the 61 Infantry Division, found a wallet containing cash and valuables on the roadside in the Boossa area while cycling along Galle Road in the early hours of the day. The wallet, which belonged to W.E. Sameera Madusanka, was handed over to him on 17 February 2025 after he was traced through his residential address and brought to the Headquarters of the 61 Infantry Division.

The wallet contained Rs. 39,770 in cash, two ATM bank cards, a bank passbook, a national identity card, a driving license, and an insurance card. The owner expressed his deep gratitude to Colonel W M D H R K Welikanna for his honesty and exemplary conduct, appreciating the officer courtesy and support during a stressful situation after losing his cash and valuables.
