211 INFANTRY BRIGADE ASSISTS IN EMERGENCY REPAIR OF DAMAGED TANK SPILL IN KAKULBADIDIGILIYA

Troops of the 211 Infantry Brigade extended urgent assistance to local authorities in restoring the damaged spill of the Kakulbadidigiliya Tank in the Horowpothana area, after heavy rainfall caused the structure to collapse in the early hours of 26 November 2025.

The Kakulbadidigiliya Tank, a vital irrigation source in Horowpothana, sustains nearly 170 acres of paddy cultivation. The collapse of its spill posed a significant threat to essential irrigation needs, nearby settlements, and farmlands that rely on seasonal water distribution.

Responding swiftly, 1 x 9 troops from the 5 (V) Gajaba Regiment was deployed to the site on 26 November 2025. Working in close coordination with local authorities and civilian volunteers, the troops assisted in stabilising the affected area and initiating emergency repair work to prevent further water loss and structural degradation.

Due to the dedicated and well-coordinated joint effort, the damaged embankment was successfully restored, and the uncontrolled water outflow was effectively contained. By the evening of the same day, the tank structure had been stabilised, ensuring the uninterrupted flow of irrigation water for ongoing agricultural activities.
