Troops under Security Force (Central) made necessary initiatives to vest a shelter to a needy family in Thissamaharamaya. On the guidance of Commander Security Force (Central) Major General Samantha Silva RWP RSP ndu General Officer Commanding of 12 Infantry Division Major General Major General Lanka Amarapala RWP RSP ndc psc directed under command troops to construct a new house for a needy family residing at No – 174, Kurukubiyakanda, Kawanthissapura in Thissamaharamaya.
The untiring effort of 3rd Battalion Sri Lanka National Guard troops and the financial sponsorship of Basnayake Nilame of Kataragama Dewalaya, gifted a newly-constructed house to Mr Suwandarathna and family on 19 June 2022.
On the day of house warming, General Officer Commanding of the 12 Infantry Division graced the occasion as the chief guest and handed over keys of the new shelter to the beneficiaries amid chanting of 'Seth Pirith'.
Commander 122 Brigade, Commanding Officer, 3 SLNG, family members of beneficiaries, troops and several villagers were associated during the formal ceremony.
