The Sri Lanka Signal Corps - Seva Vanitha Unit (SLSC-SVU) in another welfare gesture donated a wheelchair and a pair of crutches to a differently able War Hero of the 7 SLSC who is handicapped after he sustained serious injuries during humanitarian operations at Nochchikulam in the year 2008 and lost his both legs in an LTTE mortar blast.
The donation programme was conducted under the close supervision of the Chairperson, SLSC-SVU, Mrs Sajeewani Peiris. The sponsor, and his family, together with the Chairperson SLSC-SVU and Vice Chairperson of the SLSC-SVU Mrs Shashika Herath gave away those aids after visiting the house of the beneficiary in Nawagamuwa on 29 December 2021. The cost of the wheelchair (Rs 30,000.00) was sponsored by Mr Amila Yapa and his family while Mr Zuhury Hussain bore the cost of the crutches.
Sponsors were coordinated by Mrs Shashika Herath and the donation programme was held strictly complying with COVID 19 health guidelines.
