Army inter regiment judo championship 2022 was held from 21st to 26th December at Panagoda Army indoor stadium which was organized by Army Judo Association and Sri Lanka Army Ordinance Corps.
Seventeen Sappers participated for the tournament under different weight classes out of seventeen players six sappers of 8FD Engineers displayed outstanding performances by winning four silver medals and two bronze medals.
The silver medals were obtained by:
S/248675 Spr Wijesinghe WASPV – 90Kg weight class
S/249034 Spr Bandara LGSN – 60 Kg weight class
S/248731 Spr Rathnayake RMCB – 81Kg weight class
S/249372 Spr Ranaweera EGIP – 50Kg weight class
The bronze medals were obtained by:
S/248389 Spr Godamunna PR – 60Kg weight class
S/251206 Spr Wejesinghe RS – Below 100Kg weight class
The winners who arrived to the 8 Field Engineers headquarters were warmly welcomed by the Adjutant. Finally, the winners got the compliments from the Commanding Officer Lt Col ALIWK Athugala RSP USP psc SLE and he congratulated the team for their future endeavours
