FIRST OFFICIAL VISIT OF THE COLONEL OF THE REGIMENT TO THE MECHANIZED INFANTRY TRAINING CENTRE AND 2ND MECHANIZED INFANTRY REGIMENT

After assuming duties as the 17th Colonel of the Regiment of Mechanized Infantry Regiment, Major General W M S C K Wanasinghe RSP USP, General Officer Commanding 21 Infantry Division, marked the first official visit to the, Mechanized Infantry Training Centre (MITC) and 2nd Mechanized Infantry Regiment (2 MIR) on 12 October 2024.

Traditionally, a formal Guard Turnout was offered and Overlooking Commandant of Mechanized Infantry Training Centre, Lieutenant Colonel D N S Perera psc and Commanding Officer of 2nd Mechanized Infantry Regiment, Lieutenant Colonel P V R P Kumara RSP USP psc warmly welcomed him at the arrival. As the newly appointed Colonel of the Regiment, he addressed the troops of Mechanized Infantry Training Centre, and 2nd Mechanized Infantry Regiment stating the significant of Mechanized Soldier and followed by a camp visit in both the headquarters. Hence, Colonel of the Regiment inquired their both operational and administrative matters. Moreover, he was invited to leave memories by planting a sapling at the both Headquarters.

The Centre Commandant of Mechanized Infantry Regimental Centre - Brigadier A K Peiris RSP and Commander Mechanized Infantry Brigade, Brigadier H A A N C Prabhath RSP USP along with other Staff Officers of Mechanized Infantry Regimental Centre were accompanied with the Colonel of the Regiment during the visit.
