11 December 2025 – Due to the severe weather conditions experienced over the past few days, authorities identified an increased risk of a potential breach in the Muthiyankattu tank bund located in the Muthiyankattu GN Division (Bn AOR).
Under the supervision of the Commanding Officer, Major L. M. Suranaga, a team of 04 × 110 troops from the 14th Battalion, The Gemunu Watch, was swiftly deployed to the site. The troops undertook urgent protective measures, reinforcing the vulnerable sections of the bund using sandbags to prevent further deterioration and ensure the safety of nearby communities.
Their timely response and dedicated efforts significantly contributed to stabilizing the structure and minimizing disaster risk during the continuing adverse weather.
