HEALTH CAMP ORGANIZED BY GEMUNU WATCH SEVA VANITHA BRANCH FOR SPOUSES AND CLOSE RELATIVES OF WAR HEROES OF THE 1ST BATTALION, THE GEMUNU WATCH

On 05 April 2025, the Gemunu Watch Seva Vanitha Branch successfully organized a comprehensive health camp under the theme “ඇය රැකගනිමු” (“Let’s Protect Her”) at the 1st Battalion, the Gemunu Watch. This meaningful initiative was dedicated to the wives and close family members of Gemunu War Heroes and was conducted in collaboration with the Medical Officer of Health (MOH) - Haputale and the General Hospital, Diyatalawa.

The health camp aimed to provide essential screenings for breast and cervical cancer, as well as to raise awareness on these critical health issues. The inauguration of the event witnessed the active participation of several distinguished guests and institutions, including medical professionals and staff from MOH Haputale, Army Base Hospital Diyatalawa, the Colonel of the Regiment of the Gemunu Watch, the Commanding Officer of the 1st Battalion, the Gemunu Watch, and all ranks of the battalion.

The event was graced by Dr. Mrs. Dilrukshi Wimalarathne, President of the Seva Vanitha Branch, who attended as the chief guest, along with other members of the Gemunu Seva Vanitha Branch.

This health camp was designed to enhance the well-being of the officers, other ranks, and their families of the 1st Battalion, the Gemunu Watch. Attendees received a range of medical services, including Body Mass Index (BMI) measurements, blood glucose testing, and cancer screening tests.

Number of family members of Gemunu War Heroes benefited from this health camp, receiving valuable medical consultations and participating in educational awareness programs and demonstrations. The initiative not only focused on medical screenings but also aimed to empower families with vital information to promote long-term health and wellness.
