THE GEMUNU WATCH SEVA VANITHA BRANCH ART COMPETITION UNVEILS HIDDEN TALENTS OF ‘GEMUNU CHILDREN’

The Gemunu Watch Seva Vanitha Branch organised an art competition for the children of the Gemunu families. The ‘Pipena Viru Tharu’ art competition was the brainchild of Dr (Mrs) Dilrukshi Wimalaratne, President the Gemunu Watch Seva Vanitha Branch which was supervised by the Major General WBJK Wimalaratne RWP RSP, Colonel of the Regiment, the Gemunu Watch.

The competition featured four main categories and invited all the children to produce paintings in given themes.The competition was held on 10 January 2025. A panel was appointed to select best paintings including Mr LH Asanka-Lecturer, University of the Visual and Performing Arts-Colombo and Mr Sumeda Chanaka Premasiri-Vice Principal Isipathana College. On 16 January 2025, after a careful assessment procedure, twelve winners were chosen out of 109 paintings and the prize giving was held at the Regimental Centre the Gemunu Watch on 19 January 2025.

The winners were gifted with a monetary prize and a certificate for each along with the essential school stationery items. In addition all the participants were given a certificate for their attempt. Further, all the paintings were displayed in view of showcasing the talents of the children. Following the prize giving, a refreshment and lunch were hosted to all the participants.

The occasion was grazed by Dr (Mrs) Dilrukshi Wimalaratne, the President Seva Vanitha Branch, Major General WBJK Wimalaratne RWP RSP, Colonel of the Regiment, Centre Commandant, members of the Seva Vanitha Branch, the Gemunu Watch and other Officers.
