Major General WBJK Wimalaratne RWP RSP, officially commenced his duties as the Colonel of the Regiment of the Gemunu Watch with a significant visit to the under-command battalions on 16 to 17 January 2025. His visit included 12th, 7th, and 4th battalions The Gemunu Watch.
Upon arrival at each battalion, Major General Wimalaratne was warmly welcomed by the respective Commanding Officers, who honored him in accordance with military traditions. As part of the visit, he was saluted during a ceremonial guard turnout and drive pass at each camp entrance, showcasing the respect and esteem associated with his new role.
In addition to ceremonial engagements, Major General Wimalaratne participated in a sapling planting events, reinforcing the importance of environmental sustainability within the military.
During his addresses to the Officers and Other Ranks at each battalion, he underscored the critical importance of maintaining discipline and professionalism. He emphasized for vigilance against illegal activities, urging all personnel to lead their careers with integrity and the highest standards of discipline.
The Centre Commandant, senior staff officers from the regimental centre, and NCOs from various ranks engaged actively in discussions, reflecting a collective commitment to the values of the Gemunu Watch. Major General Wimalaratne's visit not only marked a new chapter in his leadership but also reaffirmed the regiment's dedication to excellence and professionalism.
