“සේවා වනිතා සිසු අභිමන් - 2025” Scholarship Programme Recognizes A/L High Achievers

The Seva Vanitha Branch of the Gemunu Watch (SVBGW) successfully organized the “සේවා වනිතා සිසු අභිමන් - 2025” scholarship awarding ceremony on 22 June 2025 at Paradise Hall, Regimental Headquarters - Gemunu Watch (RHQ-GW).

The programme was initiated under the concept of Dr. (Mrs.) Dilrukshi Wimalaratne, President of the SVBGW, with the full guidance and support of Major General WBJK Wimalaratne RWP RSP, the Director General Infantry and Colonel of the Regiment – Gemunu Watch.

This event was held to recognize and reward the exceptional academic performance of children of Gemunu Watch soldiers who passed the G.C.E. Advanced Level Examination 2024 with outstanding results, especially those who obtained three “A” passes. The initiative aimed to encourage these students to continue their academic journey and also to inspire the military community to value education for their children.

Six students who excelled at the A/L examination were awarded scholarships during the ceremony. As a token of appreciation, laptops and tablets were presented to them by Major General WBJK Wimalaratne and Dr. (Mrs.) Dilrukshi Wimalaratne. The event received high praise from both the awardees and attendees.

  • A large number of distinguished guests attended the event, including Dr. (Mrs.) Dilrukshi Wimalaratne (President, SVBGW), members of the SVBGW, Major General WBJK Wimalaratne (Director General Infantry and Colonel of the Regiment – GW), Council Members, the Centre Commandant of RHQ-GW, senior officers, officers, and other ranks of the Gemunu Watch.

    The event was a proud moment for the regiment and a meaningful contribution towards promoting education among the families of military personnel.
