On 10 December 2025, troops of the 14 (V) Gemunu Watch, operating under the 59 Infantry Division, responded promptly to information received at approximately 1730 hrs from Mr. Kokulan, Assistant Director of the Disaster Management Centre, Mullaitivu, regarding a reported breach of the Vilathi Kulam (Sulapi Kulam) tank bund in the Palampasi area.
A team from 14 (V) GW immediately visited the location and confirmed a breach measuring approximately 4 feet in width and 9 feet in depth. Acting on the instructions of the Commanding Officer, 14 (V) Gemunu Watch, 01 x 20 troops commenced urgent restoration work.
From 1800 hrs to 2145 hrs, the troops carried out repair operations using sandbags, successfully stabilizing the damaged section of the tank bund and preventing further deterioration.
