The Seva Vanitha Branch of the Gemunu Watch organized a meaningful Christmas Day programme for the children of the Convent of the Child Jesus, Ratnapura on 14 December 2025,with the objective of spreading joy, compassion, and the true spirit of Christmas.
The programme was conducted under the initiative of the President of the Seva Vanitha Branch of the Gemunu Watch, Mrs. Shihani Abeywardhana.
During the event, Rev. Father Herald Thamel delivered an inspiring and meaningful address, educating the children on the true significance of Christmas by emphasizing values such as love, sharing, kindness, and gratitude.
The celebration was further enriched by joyful Christmas carol performances sung by the children, along with colourful dance items that created a warm and festive atmosphere. Adding to the spirit of the occasion, the Gemunu Watch Music Band performed popular Christmas carols, greatly delighting the children and enhancing the overall celebrations.
As part of the welfare initiative, the President of the Seva Vanitha Branch, together with its members, distributed shoes and school water bottles to 67 children, extending practical support to enhance their daily well-being.
The event was attended by the President and members of the Seva Vanitha Branch, the Commissioner of the Department of Probation and Child Care Services, Mrs. R.M.C. Rathnayaka, and the Deputy Commissioner, Mrs. C.S. Artigala, along with Senior Officers and Other Ranks of the Gemunu Watch. Their presence and participation contributed significantly to the success of the programme.
This Christmas Day programme reflected the continued commitment of the Seva Vanitha Branch of the Gemunu Watch towards social responsibility and child welfare, while strengthening community bonds and sharing a message of hope, goodwill, and compassion during the festive season.
