A PROGRAMME FOR THE DISTRIBUTION OF GAS STOVES TO COMMUNITIES AFFECTED BY THE ‘DITWA’ CYCLONE

According to the initiative of The President of the Seva Vanitha Branch of The Gemunu Watch Mrs. Shihani Abeywardhana, and the guidance and supervision of the General Officer Commanding of the 58 Infantry Division and the Colonel of the Regiment, The Gemunu Watch Maj Gen AMA Abeywardhana WWV RWP RSP ndc, a Gas Stoves Distribution Programme was successfully conducted on 11 January 2026 at the Headquarters of the 58 Infantry Division.

The programme was organized for 50 families affected by the Ditwa Cyclone in the Kala Oya – Neelabemma area, as well as for affected Soldiers belongs to The Gemunu Watch Regiment from the Puttalam area.

This humanitarian initiative was implemented with the generous sponsorship and support of the Athugalpura Jogging Club, Kurunegala.

Accordingly, The President of the Seva Vanitha Branch and the members - SVBGW, The General Officer Commanding of the 58 Infantry Division and The Colonel of The Regiment the Gemunu Watch, Senior officers, officers, other ranks, and members of the Athugalpura Jogging Club, actively participated in the programme. Owing to the collective participation, dedication, and commitment of all those involved, the programme was successfully concluded, providing timely assistance to cyclone affected families.
